I have a very built remm 700 in .300 win mag With a Leupold VXL scope and Leupold will put yardage knobs on the scope for given cartridge. Has anyone had this done how accurate is it what is the process how far up will they go in yardage up to 1,000? How about for different rounds I have not yet zeroed the weapon or broke in the barrel as such I have not chosen a round more than likely perhaps one of the offering from Hornaday. The rifle will be used for long range target shooting and possibly hunting in the Arizona area.

I've got two friends, one with a new Christensen Arms (700 Rem action) and the other with a custom 700 both with 1000 yard target knobs done by Leupold on VXL scopes. they are set for one load with one BC and you have to specify the altitude. My friend shot a Caribou at 700 yards with his and he says it's right on. Both of them shoot 300 Ultra-mags handloaded with Nosler 180 grain bullets at 3280 fps. Their a very good system. Just range the target and dial in the yardage.
Give Nosler's custom shop a call and talk to them.

Ok this weekend I hope to have the barrel broken in and a load picked out I am leaning towards heavier bullets maybe in the Hornaday V-max? We will see I will Zero at one hundred then shoot out to 300 and chose the best group at that range I have heard that heavy bullets perform better at longer range.
Also I am leaning towards more common rounds but I could always have the scope set to one load then re-zero with a high end match ammo for long range target shooting and writing down in a notebook I keep for shooting so 300 mark for my normal ammo and 300 -2 clicks for the match stuff for bench shooting.

This is the place that does mine. They are dead on for the ranges indicated on the knobs. I have a .223 with a Leupold 6-18 target with these knobs, and so far thay have been shown just about dead on out to 550 yards. I also think this place makes them for Leupold, but there are cheaper here.
