View Full Version : 40 S&W-Powder of Choice??

The Glock 22 will be here tomorrow and I'll have to use store boughts :eek::eek: in it until I get the dies etc. from Midway. Now I'm going to use Bullseye for practice loads (at about 850 fps) but which powder for the real deal? 231 or 800X (about 1050 fps) (Using 180 grain XTP's)

Any other suggestions?

Bullseye worked for me. It was cleaner and easier to work with than other powders. Blue Dot also works very well in the .40.

+1 for AA#5. I just use it for plinking and practice rounds, for the "real deal" and duty I use factory ammo.

try imr 800x and power pistol both work great in the 40,s . i use in 10mm witch is not much diff than 40 s&w.

for me the 800x burns cleaner than anything else i have tryed.
