Hi Guys, this week I was offered to apply for a job as a Chaplin at 2 senior complexes here in my home town.
I am going to give you a little back ground and then ask for prayer.
Last April I retired from my job of almost 34 years to take a Pastoral internship at our church. I did this for 9 months and for the first time in my life I knew God had me right where I supposed to be. I was given indications that this internship was going to lead into a parttime position with the church as a pastoral assistant and my life was complete.
The position did not materialize and since January of this year I have been really struggling as I was not really prepared for retirement.
I thought things were really falling into place as I have been golfing almost everyday and have been repairing a few guns here and there.
My senior Pastor who is also one of my closest friends e-mailed me the day before yesterday and asked if I would be interested in applying for this job. The 2 centers have about 270 residences and it is not Christian based. The back ground from what I have been told is United and that is a far cry from Pentecostal.
I am really struggling as I have always worked with young people in coaching sports and other activies. I know seniors are very important and I know that God has plans for each and everyone of us.
So I am asking for prayer to help make a decision as I have a lot questions on where this would lead me.

I am thanking you all in advance.

RDKNG family prayers en route for you sir. I find in my own life that God will drag me kicking and screaming out of my comfort zone in order to teach and bless. Let us know how things work out!

Chaplain in a community that large requires you to be able to stretch beyond whatever denomination/tradition you are a part of to minister to all~it's a special task with unique opportunities but is far more diverse than a traditional pastoral position. If God is truly calling you to do it then you're empowered to go and humbly accept the position. My prayer is for God to truly reveal his will for you brother!

Dan,
As you have asked they are forthcoming. You make sure to listen when you speak to the Father.

You know it seems to me that many forget the seniors, mature or even young adults when it comes to salvation. I think this a great and very important mission. Teach the adults to teach the children. Somewhere along the way maybe these children (all ages) were skipped and somehow forgot or never knew to what depths that Christ loves them too as they aged.

You'd be great serving the Lord in any capacity my brother!

God bless and lead you,
Greg

I bet the only thing you will regret is NOT doing it.
Most times God does not use someone that is comfortable in a position. If this is kinda out of your comfort level then you will have to rely on God more to get er done.
Good luck.
