Looking for a 700 BDL 300 RUM with engraving on the chamber and base plate; there is a big horn ram on the base plate. A friend had it in CO, and I am looking for one and obviously am having no luck. Even the Remington website does not believe the gun exists. I'm assuming that it was an earlier model 700 (in the 300RUM), and they might have shelved it as far as the website goes. If anyone has any input or info on this gun I would very much appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum Smootherbore. Rules are simple, be nice and join in. I'm going to delate one of your posts as it showed up twice.

I've got a friend with one, not sure when it was made. He's had his rebarreled and restocked and blue printed. Sure is a nice gun. I helped him develop loads for it. It now shoots into near a half inch at a hundred yards. Sure hope you find one.

How's it going! Sorry about the double post; computer froze and didn't know if I lost the first one or not. Over the last few minutes I did find a post in june '06 on this forum about engraved models. I guess there are about a half dozen or so of the models. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that remington keeps track of or applies any sort of model number or name to them. I know for sure that my buddies gun was bought new, straight from the factory. Sounds like ya just gotta keep cruising the gun racks and if you run into one, you run into one?! This is the first time I have ever posted to anything, so I wasn't sure if that was a stupid question or not; bare with me if it was! Thanks again for the info and I look forward to talkin lots about shootin.

We try to encourage folks to ask questions here without flaming them. We've lots of members whom are willing to help new and old folks with shooting, hunting and gun questions. We've got a bunch of great members and moderators. New folks seem to end up double posting once in a while until they get used to the forum systems, don't worry about it.

Again welcome to the forum.
