I was wondering about: http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=42

And thinking about getting it myself, just to test it out; even if not picked for self defense (not known just yet) it seems like a very unique and fun range round, for sure!

Anyway, has anyone tested this very unique "double shot" round in gel? I read one of the Review comments on the DT website about this round, and the guy said he 'double tapped' a 245 lb. boar and stopped it in its tracks... though it was to the boars head. Yes, shot placement won! ;)

Since it's a relatively low-velocity round, .45 ACP velocity almost, I'm assuming it's going to very VERY easy to have follow-up shots with this round. Two holes each round, even though one is 135 gr. and other 95 gr., it still sounds like it could do a decent amount of damage to a target! Someone on the Reviews said it was like a mini shotgun round. I'd guess that's pretty accurate, huh. ;)

I wonder if they could make a 200 gr. Equalizer, with each projectile being 100 gr. each, and traveling at 1250-1300 fps out of a Glock 20? Hey, that'd be neat, huh? They can do other combo's too! This could be a great new line of ammo if someone really puts some money and time into developing it!

Not to get lost in the hype: Again, anyone test this round? Mike McNett specifically: have you done gel tests with it yet?

I'm not expecting spectacular "10mm-like" results, since these're slow moving, light grain projectiles; but still, I'm curious. ;)

most of the time you do not want your bullet to fragment when shooting something that can eat you.this one is already fragmented before it hits the target. might be fun to shoot on paper but think that is as far as i would go with it. go with the 220gr hardcast for nockdown power and great penatration.it might be ok for self defence in some situations.

To paraphrase Col. Cooper......looks like a remarkable solution to a non-existant problem.

Boy, this sure brought back some memories! Years ago (1968) after I got out of the Marine Corps and started reloading to keep my shooting habits satisfied, I tried loading some 45 gr lead wadcutter type bullets in my .38 Special for experimenting and plinking. The fella that got me started in handloading owned the bullet mold and he had some cast up already. I did a practically unheard of thing at the time, of loading three (3) of these into a .38 Special (Yep, they were like hockey pucks, stacked one on the other), over 3.5 gr of Bullseye. Humor: It was funny to listen to another officer complaining about someone shooting on his target-----especially at 25 yards, these things would spread out -----in the white, usually leaving the black unscathed. Seriously though, at 15 or even 20 yards they could be a force to be reconed with because of "multiple hits", moving at approximately 850 fps. If nothing else, it appeared to be somewhat impressive -------on paper. If I were to consider it as a defensive load, I would consider four (4) of these in a .357 Mag at a higher velocity----same range limitation.

in the book 40 years with the 45-70 the writer wrote about loading multipal shots in one cartarage, said he got a kick out of the head scraching people did when they went and looked at the paper and saw 2 hits with only one shot.
