Well I finally got my grips from marschalgrips from Budapest, Hungary .
They are made out of Zebra wood .
They fit like a glove and look pretty good .
Have all sorts of bullets coming to do some load testing from jacketed to cast .
This is a fay cry from testing my Hand cannons to this small 9mm .
The bullets that are shown witht the pistol came with it .
They are steel core ,not sure about that .
I am going to unload one and then cut it in half to see for myself

grips look real nice. have not used the 9x18 round, but have a cz-52 in 7.62x25 witch is a real fun round to work with 90gr 2100fps.they make 9mm barrels for the cz-52 thought about getting one and make 9x23 or 9x25 for a little more nockdown power. the makarov looks like a well made handgun.

Well I did the test today .
I used a ammo hammer to get the lead tip out and catch the powder.
The bullet weighed 95 Grains and had 3.8 grains of powder , green powder to boot ??
Here are two pictures of the bullet.
I cut it in half and pulled the lead out and there was a steel cap on top of the lead .
I had a business card magnet and the jacket stuck right to it .
What do you think .

I have a buddy that has equipped his entire family with Markrovs. The pistol is basically a knockoff of the PPK. Most of them are a bit coarse but very functional. If you smooth the feedramp a bit it will feed just about anything. The pistol is small and it is inexpensive enough that you can afford to shoot it a lot.

A citizen armed with a Markarov and experienced in its use is far better armed than the one with the expensive custom 1911 that never fires it.

The Makarov is an extremely well thought out design and a rare example of a military grade handgun that is truly, and deliberately, concealable. If the Makarov did not exist and Sig came out with it today gunwriters would be singing its praises from every magazine stand in the nation. The same would be true for the cartridge it fires, which is ballistically more like the standard pressure .38 SPL than the considerably weaker .380 ACP. Try operating it left-handed and find out how easy it is to sweep off the safety with your left thumb. Try point shooting it or shooting it in bad light. It is rugged, highly resistant to the intrusion of crud, and otherwise typical of Soviet design. Enjoy.
