Well I went and did it. I went to stop over at a friends house today and he wasnt home, so I stopped at one of the local dealers. Boy did I screw up. I left after putting money down on a rifle. Its a Interarms Mark X Alaskan in 375 H&H. It comes with Leupold quick detach rings a set of Leupold stationary rings, a Leupold 3X dangerous game scope and 27 rounds of ammunition, and its been Magna-ported. It looks almost new. The guy bought it to go to Alaska for grizzly. The dealer figured it was only shot for sighting in and then when the bear was shot. Theres hardly any wear on the extractor, and the blueing is perfect. It comes with the original stock and a plain black stock. I get the original stock when the person that inheirited it gets back to Illinois and gets up to the attic, till then it has the black stock on it. I didnt think it was bad for $650. Itll be awhile before I get it, now I have to finish paying for it. I'll let you know how it shoots when I get it which will be a few months, unless I get to impatient and go and pick it up with my savings.

Sounds like a good deal... and it's hard to beat a Mauser action in a dangerous game gun.

I have a buddy who's very successful hunting elk w/ his 375 H&H.

.375's a cool, I liked mine until I detached a retina in a bench session.

It's also a great elk rifle cartridge. H414 or Win 760 with a 250gr Sierra BT can get things moving at about the same velocity as a 180gr bullet in an '06, and both of the .375's I owned over the years shot like a varmiter.

I think you found a good combo, but my .350 Rem Mag is enough gun for me.

congrats on the deal, sounds like a good one. the mark X fas a good reputation, in fact it is made by the same people that are making remington's 798's.
