View Full Version : H322 30-30 Loads.
After doing a bit of research and consulting several reloading manuals, I've decided to give this powder a try in the 30-30. The Sierra manual has this listed as the most accurate powder tried. Brian Pierce also had very good results with it in an article he did not to long ago as well. Does anyone here use H322 for the 30-30?

It gave only mediocre accuracy in my 336XLR. My rifle responded much better with ball powders. Winchester 748 and Hodgdon BL-C(2).
High Ken I tried W748 with several 150gr bullets and have had dismal results. So I thought I would give H322 a try. My groups at the range with W748 looked more like patterens at 100yd instead of groups.
Well, if one powder worked best in all rifles of a given caliber that would probably be the only one they listed in the books.
I just double checked my notes. In the H-322 column I simply noted "mediocre" by group size with the Remington 150 grain bullets, this is in comparison to the 1 1/2" group with the 748 so it might not have been all that bad.

H322 and RL-7 have given me the best results from my Model 94 XTR. I shoot mostly Speer 150 Flat Point SPs, but both powders have also performed well with 130 and 170 grain bullets. If you ever care to try full power cast bullet loads, RL-7 is the best powder I've ever used for that purpose....
