I got my American Rifleman magazine yesterday and was pleased to see an article by Ross Seyfried about the origin of the belt on cartridge cases. The article included info on a gem of an uncommon rifle and the photography complimented things nicely. I've always enjoyed the depth and variety of this guys writings.

I agree, good article. I wish the picture of the cased rifle were bigger.
The .356 and .358 Winchester compare favorably.

Hi All,

I was disappointed when I stopped seeing his articles a couple of years back. One of the themes in his articles was the fact that successful hunting depends on the hunter, not the artillery!

If you enjoy his writing, he is a regular contributor to "The Double Gun and Single Shot Journal", perhaps the most "gorgeous" gun mag. published.

You couldn't be more right -- that magazine has some of the nicest photography, and quality paper, etc.......

I was disheartened over some of the rumors of "discontent". His work "shined". None of the other writers could sharpen his pencils. Their are several who are good and trying to fill the gap but are missing the mark. The remaining hope is that he is working on a book or two. I could justify the price of a hard cover but the price of a "Double Gun Journal" puts it in the category of dropping a hint on Father's Day.

Seyfied is a good writer who always was an "interesting read". At one time, he was a "licensed PH" in 5 different African countries. He is probably one of the foremost authorities on antique, obsolete rifle cartridges and how to put them back into "service". "Ditto" on the "Double Gun Journal", Pete.

If nothing else, a bound compilation of some of his magazine articles would be worthwhile.
