Off a bench with just the bi pod out of my remm 700 with kreiger barrell mcmillan stock and looking through a Luepold VXL 4.5X14X50 I was shooting .300 Win Mag to break the barrel in and after 40 rounds on loose grouping and adjusting on my scope. I put in some Hornaday 150 grain interlock.

First shot went through the center red circle above and right of dead center, second shot went just left of the first one with half of the impact inside the first, third shot went dead center of the first two and basically a dead bulls eye. Total group size was 3/4 of an inch a the widest point. All three shots within the red dot. I was shocked I knew it was within the guns ability but not mine. fourth and fifth shots went high on target mostly becuase I rushed them and the .300 win mag was pushing me back and off the bench.

I was using 14 magnification so I could spot my own shots, so it take a while to get back on target after a single shot, the recoil knocked me completely off target, so in practice I think I will need lower magnification at that distance maybe even the lowest setting. The Leupold was great crystal clear. I also think perhaps the use of a muzzle break would be helpful in a .30 caliber magnum.

I built the gun o a remm 700 SPS DM, and the bolt could be a little smother and the magazine is hard to get in with the bolt forward. Also third round in the 3 round magazine is hard to seat at times.

All and all I am very happy with my rifle, and cant wait to start shooting out to and past 700 yards.

Here is a picture I took before going to the range, I was going to shoot all the guns but the break in on the Remington proved to take up all the time.

Nice shooting. I have found that most of my guns are much more capable of good groups than I am.

Yeah I know what you mean, In the Marines I could easily out shot my m-16 which with iron sights I could group at about 2.75 inches on a good day shooting in the prone without body armor.

I am seriously considering having Leupold put on yardages markers on the scope once I choose a bullet/load. I am leaning towards the 180GR heavy rounds s they seem to do better at longer distances and have more power.

Sweet, have you done any other modifications to the rifle? I was thinking about getting a Remington SPS DM. But more for hunting than wacking pasties.

It also has a timney trigger, only thing original on the rifle is the action. Out of the box it shot about a 1 inch group just a scoche over.

1 inch group is good for me when it comes to hunting. Cool rifle. O how do you like the trigger? Ive looked into those before for other firearms
