i resently bought a win.mod. 53 (aka 92) in 32/20. nice tight action, good bore and finish. it shoots better than i can however i find that it distorts the case neck on ejecting and nicks the rim like it hits something sharp. does anyone know a fix?

Believe you need to run this by '92 gunsmith Steve Young at 409-984-5473. Steve has been working on '92/53s for a long time and should have an answer for you. email: steve@stevesgunz.com
My guess is you're not operating the lever smartly enough for the empty case to clear the receiver port without hitting it so the caseneck takes a ding. Do you slowly operate the lever so you don't have to search for your brass three positions down from your shooting bench? Also guess that your extractor is a bit rough and needs a bit of polish to avoid nicking the case rim. As you might guess, I guess a lot but am serious about running your problems by Steve. Hope this helps.:)

thanks marshal, when we shoot l/a at the club here we,re on a time limit so we,re jacking them through we stand in the middle of a 4m by 3.6m sheet of shadecloth and i,ve still had to hunt in the grass for cases. i,ll try giving the extractor a polish and see what happens. i,ll give steve young an email when i get back next week.
