Planning on getting one in .30-06. What do you guys think of them?

Excellent rifle. A buddy of mine got a CZ if .458 Lott and it is very well built. They do their rifles right and the price is certainly not to be sneezed at.

Probably one of the "great buys" in rifles today. Good wood, good steel, great accuracy and absolutely the best factory trigger on the market today.
Did I say I really like them?

The CZs are superb rifles. I recommend them without reservations.

I like the rifle but I am still ticked at CZ for not producing the 550 American in 300WM; except for the $3k or so ultimate hunter or whatever they call it. I don't know how you can have a rifle called "American" and not chamber it in 300 Winchester Magnum. They do chamber it in .30-06 though so they are not completely goofy.

I think thats a great choice its one of the rifles on my potential to get list. The only concern of mine is the twist rate is 1 in 12 it seams as though most .30 cals are 1 in 10. But i have little experence with this subject matter. However I have been told that the rifle will stabilize pretty much anything up to 180g and may or may not stabilize the 200 and 220g bullets. Other than that I love there double set trigger. Not that I would use it or recomend using it in the field but I still think its realy cool. :D

I had a CZ 550 American in .270 Winchester. Excellent rifle. I loved the set trigger, excellent fit (for me), great metal finish and bluing (even where you can't see it), and solid quality at a very good price. A rifle I would definitely consider buying again (sold it to get a "dream" rifle).

Last two rifles have been CZ 550 FS and ABSOLUTELY LOVE 'EM!!! Actually, now instead of picking a caliber and then choosing the make, I just look at what CZ offers...

Great rifles. I'm looking at getting one in a 9.3 x 62 Mauser myself.

I was always wary about buying a CZ in .458 Lott since they dont have crossbolts.

I cant believe they made it a 1/12" twist, why couldn't they have made it 1/10"? The whole reason i am getting the .30-06 is so i can shoot 150 grains right up to 240 grains. And before you ask, yes i have thought about .300 win mag and bigger but i want the .30-06.

The 30-06 is a good choice because the 550 action is a long action. Anything based on the -06 case is a good choice. And if you haven't already made this connection.....you will absolutely love the single set trigger.
