Hey guys - new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone knows what the expected barrel life is for a Tikka t3 Lite. I've got one coming in 270 win - my first "real" rifle. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum tampaplinker. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

Unless you shoot it fast enough to make the barrel glow in the dark and your not pushing well past max loads your going to get several thousand rounds down that tube before it starts showing throat erosion. Even after throat erosion begins your going to get many more rounds downrange before accuracy becomes unacceptable.

If this is a hunting rifle and your just using it for hunting and not target shooting where your putting thousands of rounds a year thru it, it will last your lifetime and more.

Thanks Bob - I appreciate the help. Not a hunting rifle, just killing paper.

Tikka barrels come off the same production line as Sakos. So what you end up with is a production barrel that is nearly as good as a fine custom barrel, if they are taken care of expect them to outlast you.

That's one of the reasons I bought the Tikka - I had read a lot of very good reviews. It was my first choice; second was a Rem. 700 in .223. But i came across the T3 brand spanking new for $380 and couldn't pass it up.

Got it on GunBroker.com. I'm a southpaw and this shop in PA had picked up a few LH models and were clearing them out. I think they still have a .270 win mag and a .300 win mag left...
