I need help here. I am in the process of loading up some 165 Accubonds for my Rem 700 action in .300WM (1st time handloading for this rifle). I FL resized a few & then tried them in the gun. When I went to close the bolt on the 1st one, I could feel a definate "Clicking sound" (as though the extractor is being pushed over the rim). So I go to extract it, and I cant, I have to cover the bolt handle with a cloth and tap the bolt open with a little hammer. So I try a different case, and it feeds & ejects no problem:confused: . So I resized 6 cases & 3 of them eject no problem, 3 have to have the bolt tapped open....................Whats going on here?

Thanx in advance.

Try this, reset your sizer so it has a slight springback when you are fully down. Resize one of the cases that you had problems with and try it. If that don't work. Next take the cases in question and measure the hgt of the mag belt from the base. Compare to the ones that cycle freely.

It sounds like your not sizing the case enough. I'd check over the setup directions that came with your dies.

Yes, some rifle sizing dies (RCBS that I know of) are adjusted by first raising the ram so that the die just touches the shellholder. Then, the ram is lowered and the die is given another 1/8 to 1/4 turn deeper. Might do as Bob suggests, re-read your setup directions.

cmfic1,

It is highly desirable that you solve this problem as soon as you can. First, the Remington extractor, not the most robust design, is being abused each time you hammer open the bolt. Second, the bolt handle is brazed onto the barrel of the bolt, and if enough force is used, really bad things happen.

If these empty cases were fired in any gun other than yours, you can expect to need to resize them fully to avoid this sticking problem. Marshal Kane and Swany are giving you good advice.
