Have had poor success with the Remington 22-250 due to the synthetic stock. Am considering replacing the stock and/or buying a Tikia T3 Lite. Would like to know any opinions of the Tikia. Where can I get a good stock for the Remington?

You'll find plenty of Tikka fans here. Hard to beat.

Be as specific as you want with your questions.

What kind of group can I expect and does anyone know what twist it has.

I don't know which Remington your shooting, but there are both aftermarket stocks available and factory stocks. I shoot a heavy bbl VLS with a laminated stock on it and it's very accurate and the stock does an excellent job. Even the inexpensive injection molded stocks Remington sells seem to deliver pretty good accuracy as reported by a bunch of our members.

HS Precision seems to be one of the better synthetic stocks and lots of folks such a Boyds whom sell thru Cabela's and others along with Remington can provide laminated or wood stocks.

As far as the Tikka you might check their website for twist rates and barrel lengths. Like Jonas says there are lots of fans here.

I handled a Tikka Stainless Lite recently.
It's pretty nice, the one i saw had a laminate stock, too. As the name suggests, it really is VERY light. With a light scope and small bipod, it could be an amazing stalking gun.
Only thing i'd say is get it in a relitively low-recoiling calibre. Wouldn't like to try a gun that light with a highpowerd cartrige... .243 would be good, unless you're looking at a .22-250 to replace your current one.

Twist for the 22-250 = 14"

As for groups...like most any Tikka, it's likely to shoot better than you or I can. In fact, that's true for many rifles these days. Find the ammo it likes, do your part, and it will do it's part.

What model is your Remington? I have a model 700 Light Varmint Stainless Fluted (LVSF) that came with a light weight synthetic stock. I hated it because with random barrel contact due to the stock flexing it would not give consistent point of impact until I wedged a folded business card under the front of the forearm. It shot accurately with the business card wedge but looked real funny. I replaced the POS synthetic stock that came with the gun with a Boyd's Thumbhole Laminate and all is good.

I've only been out to the range once with my new Tikka T3 LIte but I love it. It shoots better than I do; very consistent.

It is light though - I've got it in .270 and just ordered a Limsaver recoil pad. I shot my friend's 30-06 with a walnut stock and it had less recoil.

I did a lot of research before buying this gun. IMHO it represents the best gun you can buy for the money

The gun is a rem 700 hunting rifle plastic stock in a 250. When I got it about a year ago, it shot ok, just ok (1"+)at 100 yards. Then i would go out and it would not repeat. I went to the range over and over during this time I tried to free float the barrel it did not work. I spoke to the expert at the sporting goods store that I bought it at, told me some guns need to have some pressure up from the stock this did not help. I reloaded many different loads and bullets that never worked for me, but my hunting partner thinks I'm a reloading genus. He can put 2 shots through the same hole. I removed the upward pressure and removed some more plastic to free float it put it away for winter. When I went out it shot 2-3" to the left then the week later it was all over. I checked the gap under the barrel and the plastic was touching again the plastic is moving. I have shot about 700 rounds through it and installed two buckmaster 4.5 x14 scopes on it it is time for something to change.
The best it ever shot was on a cold very very windy day

I thought about giving it to my son-in-law and making him look bad for a while.

That sounds like a good plan.

Send trhat rifle down the road at first opportunity! You will NEVER have confidence in it, sell it. I have several Remingtons that shoot great but I have had a couple that did not. The ones that did not shoot are gone.

I had a pleasant surprise! Bought a new Remington 799 in 222 cal. The dealer couldn't sell it because of very rough bolt operation. I got it below dealer cost, worked on it a couple of hours with emery cloth to smooth up the bolt and I have a rifle. It is pillar bedded, free floated, and has a fully adjustable trigger , all from the factory. It is small and light weight and it makes an excellant walking-stalking rifle.

The surprise? It shoots under 3/8 inch groups at 100 yards right out of the box!

UTcoyotehunter , Sounds to me like you might want to dump that plastic stock for either a wood or laminate stock since it is moving.

i personally wouldn't give up on the rifle just yet. i would put a good quality stock on it, the nice thing about a remy is that if you want walnut you can nose around and find a factory take off. the laminates are nice but a bit heavier. i like the laminates, good looking and very stable and durable. bell & carlson make good stuff and hs precision is awesome. that thought brings me to another good point about the remington, everybody and their brother makes aftermarket acessories for them.
the tikkas are great rifles and their barrels come out of the same pile as sakos. the aestetics of the reciever doesn't do it for me but they are great rifles just the same.

I do agree with jbledsoe that I will never trust my 250 on a hunt. I also like the idea about replacing the stock with a take off or a laminate (great idea thanks) . there is a big part of me that wants to cut my losesang get rid of the @#$& thing. I have consiterd replacing it for hunting and playing with my old 250 at the rainge and not were out the new hunting 250.

According to the Beretta site, the Tikka Laminated Stainless doesn't come in 22-250. Smallest are .243 and .25-06. But, the Tikka site lists the .22-250. I'd call Beretta. And ignore their MSRPs.

Its a great feeling stock. No complaints.

I told a friend of mine about my poor shooting 22-250 rem 700. He told me of a 20-30 year old wallnut stock in a valt he had and he sent it to me. long story short the thing is shooting well first 3 shots through the same hole. We will see if it will repeat but today was about 90 degrees and it has never shot well over about 40 degrees

Sounds like you fixed the problem. Good for you. Nice to have friends like that also.
