Im looking at buying a slightly used Rock Island Armory .45. The gun is in almost new conditition and was wondering what are your thoughts on this gun. I can only find limited info on RIA. Any help would be appreciated.

They are made in the Philippines, I believe by the same company that makes the Charles Daly 1911s. My experience has been that these are quite decent pistols for the money. Be careful what you pay -- I see many for sale brand new at less than $350. I'd certainly pick up a used one if it is priced accordingly.

i know this is a semi- old thread but I just bought a rock island full size .45 last month and absolutely love it. I've put about 400 rounds through and not even a burb. If you are considering still buying, I found this link in another post on this forum. Really informative. If you google rock island armory .45. You will find a lot of good info. I have read probably over 200 posts on the RIA .45 before buying and only 10 were negative. There are also many articles about it. The gun is made in the phillipines. Don't let that throw you. the quality in the phillipines is very good. the gun is well made and is worth every cent. In my mind it's as good or even better than the springfields.
Get the tactical version with the beavertail so you wouldn't get "hammer bite"
