Does anyone know about the qaulity of thier reproduction lever guns?
I have read where they are a partnership between charter arms and some Italian firm, but beyond that, have not heard how well thier lever guns are.

Thanks
Joe

As far as I can find Charter Arms has nothing to do with the Italian firm, Armi Chiappi. They are the fourth incarnation, or "reorganization", of prior companies. Their main export for many years was a lower level Sharps rifle copy.

Regarding their guns, the external finish has been greatly improved while the internal remains "variable". An action full of metal filings is not unknown. I understand that there are some design differences and very few parts will interchange with Uberti products.

Personal note. Uberti has been making replica leverguns for well over forty years with a history of quality. Their parts are readily available from VTI. I'm not aware of a model that Chapparal offers that Uberti doesn't also. BOL

I own a Chaparral Model 1876 SRC and find it to be very well made with a smooth action that will only improve with time. There is absolutely no evidence of rough metal machining anywhere on the gun.
