Welcome to the forum.
Try this:

1975, you only need to post the first two numbers to determine year of manufacture.

Thanks guys, Yeah i determined the year allready.....the stock seems to be special... to me ....but my buddy thinks it was just stamped......the butt section has a 10 point whitetail, oak leaves and checkering.......the forearm has checkering and oak leaves as well was this a standard design? there isnt much grain in the wood i dont think its wallnut...maybe birtch?
It is standard for the Glen Fields to have stamped game scenes in the wood (depending on year made), and yes it is birch. They only put Walnut on the Marlin branded rifles. Your rifle also has a cap style fore end retainer instead of a band, right? You can't buy a regular 336 fore end for it, but the butt stock will interchange with a 336. That and the sights are really the only difference between the "store brand" Glen Fields and the 336s. Your rifle should be very accurate, all the Marlins seem to be capable of putting 3 rounds into an inch or less at 100 yards. Some people claim the model 30's fore end cap allows for better accuracy than the barrel band style and that is the way the XLRs are made.
