Well, I really like this new pistol. Its a Para Ordnance 16-40 LDA. I've tried some 155 grain JHP, 165 grain RNFP, and 180 grain RNFP bullets. The 180s were factory CCI Blazer Brass, the 155s and 165s were reloads that fed and shot well in my Beretta 96 that I sold a while back.

I'm not sure what the problem is, one magazine does feed slightly better than the other one. A small mar forms on the case when it doesn't feed, the mar is a half circle about 1/10" behind the taper. I also see where it does hang up a bit on the extractor, but the main problem is at the front, because it should slide up under the extractor as long as it doesn't hit at the top like it has.

I do have a couple extra magazines on order and I expect them in on Wednesday, but I'd like to know if somebody else has had a similar problem. A friend has a Springfield Armory 14-45 that does the same thing, but he hasn't fixed it yet.

Best I can say is contact Para Ordnance and let them know the problem your having. I've only shot a couple of those and sure like the triggers on the LDA models.

Matt, if the pistol wasn't new, I would suggest what I did on my aginf P12-45. Granted I was up for the experiment and had already decided not to be mad at myself if I ruin it entirely, but the tips and tricks here http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/tech/reliability_secrets.htm, especially those refering to the extractor polishing has really shaped up my Para, almost to the point of 100% reliability. I say almost because I also shoot a Glock 23, and in over 5K rounds of varying ammo and conditions I've never had a failure. http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/tech/reliability_secrets.htm

I went and shot at my Monday night practice for the local action pistol group and really narrowed it down to a magazine. One magazine had the feed lips in just a bit further. I pried them out just a bit and it still didn't feed right, but I think its the magazine, since the other one feeds much better, in fact its pretty much flawless except for the last round locks the slide open before it chambers it, a simple flick of the thumb fixes it, and it is getting better.

Para offered to have the pistol sent in for them to look at it, but I just asked if I could swap out magazines. We'll see what they say now.

I purchased two more magazines, and they feed great. Para offered to switch out the defective magazine and I sent that off tuesday.

I'm sure that shooting it a bit helped things out tremendously and I don't have any complaints with it.

After practice I went and sighted it in, and several 5 shot groups went into 3/4" at 25 yards.
