View Full Version : A question
At the risk of really ticking someone off, and I really don't want to, but need to ask....when did this section get taken over for listing daily devotionals?
I like daily readings as much as most believers, but to have that become the focal point of this part of the board is really diminishing it's value. Why not just have A thread: Daily Devotional...and update it with each day if you feel the need to? When you've got something that really rocks you, share it.
Just me, sorry if I offend, again, that's not my point, but the express purpose here is or has been a bit different than just posting those. Or our Sunday School lessons, etc.
Fire away.
I'll reply not as a moderator, but as an individual that does not carry any more weight than any other opinion.
"Get taken over" implies more than what I see occurring. The daily devotionals are a post/thread just like any other and does not diminish the opportunity for any other threads/posts.
To me, it does not appear to be a "focal point" any more than any other thread/post other than it's more consistent.
Marshall is the authority on what his intent was for this forum, but as long as it does not conflict with the intent of the forum, which I don't think it does, and does not interfer/prevent companion threads/posts, it seems to be well intended and not a problem other than it may not be everyone's cup of tea?

Dear JR1,
I had no intent to take over anything, but rather, to provide the Gospel for those non-Christians who may pop into this part of the forum to see what Cross-Wire is all about. I have not provided any commentary on these verses, but rather let them speak for themselves, through the action of the Holy Spirit within us.
Those who are ignorant of the Gospel cannot find salvation without hearing it proclaimed. I thought it would be nice for them to actually see it proclaimed along with our prayer threads and as a counterpoint to our discussions of theological differences.
If, along the way, these postings provide a benefit for those Christians on the site, that is an added benefit. The idea of posting them in a continuous thread is OK with me, if that is what the majority want.
Peace,

Where I have my Shooter's Forum on my homepage tabs to open with the "New Posts" link, It does not really matter to me how they are listed. However, I can see someone who just drops in and clicks on the Crosswire link and just seeing daily devotions listed, they could move on with the idea that is all it is, That said, I could care less how the moderators and Marshall would like to see it done because it would not really affect me with the way I use the forum one way or the other.
I guess my concern is that it's just become boring, and there's no interaction now. I know .308's motives are right, no doubt about it...it's just that I don't even bother checking in here now, it's like reading a newspaper. I have my own devotionals and studies that I read. This should be a place where guys who wouldn't normally ever talk about faith or visit another Christian board, can talk, ask a question, ponder something that affects their lives, ask for prayer. I wasn't trying to stir anything up, merely asking what everyone else felt.

Gentlemen,
Here's my take. I don't read the daily readings but I do look to see how many others do. If it brings others to look at the Word then by all means reach out. Maybe not for me and JR but for all those others.
I still enjoy the iron sharpening iron thing better, more personal interaction. JR I don't think these daily readings will inhibit others from reaching out and asking for help or giving advice. I think everyone is just plain busy. And we both know from where this comes!
308 thanks for the Scriptures!
God bless,
Greg

It would help keep the forum more organized if the daily readings were all added to a single thread rather than each day's reading being a separate thread.

Spreading God's word is the number one thing that is asked of a Christian and I still believe that we can do this and have fellowship on Crosswire.
I have been blessed by getting to know Greg & David and in my opinion you can never ask to many questions when it comes to Chirstianity.
