Any of you guys tried X-Terminator for .223 varmint loads with 40 or 50 grain bullets? I see TAC mentioned a bunch, but mostly for heavier bullets. My slow twist 788 likes the lighter bullets better.

I'm using 748 now, and it works fine, but I've been wanting to try the Ramshot powders, and was wondering if X-Terminator might be a better choice than TAC.

I tried out the 40 grain Sierra Blitzking seated one caliber into the case. TAC is way too slow. X-terminator is better, but produces underwhelming ballistic efficiency of 23.5% and less than maximum velocity. Good old IMR4198 did best. A more respectable BE of 27.7%, filled the case and got about 120 fps more velocity. A much better choice for light bullets in the .223.

Some guys love it,but I was also a bit disappointed by X-Terminator. Id have to dig out my notes for details, but the fact that I have several pounds of it and seldom use it may be indicative.

I've used TAC and X-Terminator for my .223 and the 36 grn Barnes Varmint Grenade. I'm getting faster velocities out of the TAC but seems like there's more accuracy potential for X-Term in my rifle. I'm still working with loads in both and actually heading to the range today to shoot some groups with X-Term.

Wanna sell it? :)

I think I recall it shoots well, but is "dirty" -- although it also cleans up easily.
