Purchased a 375 JDJ barrel for my Thompson Encore. Tried to fire it yesterday. Recoil too much for me to handle. Have been told two possible recoil reduction methods are Mag-Na-Port or some type of muzzle brake. Anyone have any experience or opinions?

All of my experience with TC pistols is that they are BRUTAL in the recoil department. They are a poor design that can really hurt your hand. Very few can handle them and as you learned, you are not one of them. They are a gun that demands only one hand size.
I shoot very heavy revolvers with no problem but I hate the TC's in large calibers.
Get it ported first off, then pull the forend and figure out how to get some weight in it.

I have a 375JDJ Encore. I really like it. Sent it to SSK Industries for a muzzle brake. They were very good , pleasant to deal with, fast turnaround and top notch work. Cost $160 if I remember right. Highly recommended. Definitely helped with the recoil.
I have found it to be accurate with 235 gr Speer soft points to 150+ yards. Shoot some 300gr FMJ for fun at times.

Send it to SSK for an Arrestor muzzle brake, which will be superior in recoil reduction to a MNP job. 220 and 235 gr. bullets will also recoil less than 270's.

Thanks for the advice. I'll contact SSK regarding the muzzle brake.

The fastest, simplest thing for you to try is to use quality shooting gloves, like the Past. You won't have to modify your gun.
