First round controlled hunt draw results (deer, elk, antelope) are posted on the IDF&G website. I know someone who drew a cow elk tag! :D Whoo hoo! Four of us drew cows on one card. The other crew on the bull card didn't draw, so hopefully some can get some draws on leftovers in the second round. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the heads up Shawn. Just checked and Dad and I both drew the deer tags we wanted. Not sure what we will do for elk.

Congrats MarlinF! I tried for antelope in unit 52 but was unsuccessful. I didn't put in for deer anywhere as I like to hunt deer while I'm hunting elk, and my elk unit is open hunt. Looks like we'll have our "elk camp", which is an important part of my vacation time. If I never drew a tag, I might still set up camp! I'm really hoping to have two caribou in the freezer by then, so the "winter meat" hopefully won't be an issue!
Congratulations, you guys! I hope you have a great time!

I am assuming the caribou will not be taken in Idaho....Quebec maybe?

Keep us up to date on the Caribou hunt Shawn and good luck.
Our deer should be a easy meat in the freezer doe this year.
We didn't put in for elk and are still deciding where and when.
Shot a doe in 52 once several years back but that is the only hunting I have done there, always wanted to return with a buck tag after the trophy I saw in the hills above the farm/ranches opening morning. Perhaps the largest rack I have ever seen. Deer on public land wasn't all that easy, at least back then, permission didn't seem available and you could count dozens perhaps hundreds of deer on private land every eveniing, but we still managed to fill our tags in two days of searching.
Did get a nice antelope in unit 51 about 92 or so, near where Elmer Keiths ranch was. To me that was kinda special after reading so much from him as a kid.
Ah, good memories!
Hope everyone gets more good memories and plenty of meat this fall.

Yes, that's right, N. Quebec - Nunavik. A week in late Sept. I understand that's pushing the weather that late in the year, but also told that's when to expect the biggest bulls. I'd really like some caribou in the freezer, and on the wall!
Marlin,
I had a buck tag in unit 52 5 or 6 years back and got a decent 5x5, but it wasn't a really mature heavy horned bruiser. Never did see any real bruisers, but there's some out there as 1 or 2 tremendous ones are killed there every year.

Well, I wish you good luck. Am I the only one here who is a little envious?

I and my two hunting partners were drawn for Idaho Controlled Cow elk, Boise River Zone, Unit 39-2. Hope to put some prime cow elk in the freezer. ;)
Good luck to all this Fall season.

Some controled hunt tags were sold at any IDFG regional office begining 7/15, on a first come, first serve basis. Dad and I was at their door when they opened at 8 AM yesterday. I reckon that is what we will do for elk this year.

Congrats Leanwolf and MarlinF! I was under the impression that leftover controlled hunt tags went on sale in August after the 2nd draw, but they must be doing something special with this unit since it's all (mostly?) private ground?
