Does anyone have a suggestion for replacement grips for a new RUGER Blackhawk SA? I would like HOGUE Monogrips, but they DO NOT FIT properly.

Situation: I recently purchased a new RUGER Blackhawk in .45 Colt. I discovered that the grips were sitting cockeyed on the frame, protruding noticeably out from the frame line and the other grip does NOT sit flat against the frame, but is raised up on both the forward edge and the rear edge, at the bottom. It is enough to irritate me, especially after paying over $500 for it......you want it to be right.

According to some sources, they thought the factory grips might not be the correct specs for the gun and to check inside the grip frame. Removing the grips, I found that the frame read "XRN - 3". Having just received the new HOGUE Monogrips today, I attempted to fit them onto my new gun---------NO WAY WOULD IT FIT-------NOT EVEN CLOSE!! According to the order (MIDWAY USA), it was supposed to fit my new BLACKHAWK revolver.

"Fits: Ruger Blackhawk, Single 6 and Vaquero with XR3-RED, XRN-3, XRN-3RED frames. Will not fit frames stamped "XR3" with no suffix.
Also fits Super Blackhawk with round trigger guard."

I would hate to "burn" a retailer with a set of grips that I ordered that would also NOT FIT MY NEW GUN.

I looked for an email to RUGER so that I could send them a couple of pictures of the factory grips with the complaint, but to no avail. Does anyone have an email address for RUGER customer service???

www.ruger-firearms.com and click on 'Product Service' and then 'Contact'. Personally I would call them. Sounds like the grips are warped since I can't actually see what is going on. Is the frame mounting surface, except for the little beveled part at the top, flat? Is the gripframe possibly warped?
That sure looks like a normal Blackhawk XRN-3 frame in the one angle view. Since both grips don't fit, it sure sounds like maybe the gripframe is suspect. I think Ruger will take care of you.

Been there. Can't help ya with the factory grips not fitting (mine are fine) but I spent a couple of weeks trying to find a set of Hogue or Pachmeyr grips. They don't make any, and when I called the companies, neither has plans to make any. If you want fancy wood or plastic, you have beaucoup choices. If you want overmolded rubber with palm swells and finger grooves, you're SOL.

I gave up and started wearing fingerless gloves when shooting hot loads.

To pfoxy------I guess the irritating thing about the HOGUE Monogrips, is the fact that another pair that I have fit perfect for my SUPER BLACKHAWK on my .44 Mag, and they are a pleasure to use when shooting 200 rounds or so. For fast draw work, I use my PACHMAYR PRESENTATION rubber grips. They also, fit great and are a pleasure to shoot with. I am beginning to believe that I am indeed, S.O.L. on the BLACKHAWK frame on my .45. You may have noticed "XRN-3" in my attached photo.

To sadsit-------I did locate the telephone # this morning on their website and did call customer service. A very gracious lady told me that they have had "some problems" with grip vs frame properly fitting (quality control), but would be happy to fix the problem for me. I wasn't fond of the idea of sending in my gun, especially after all of the work that I had already put into it. Ya, maybe I am a little bit "touchy" about my firearms------it comes with some personal experience------I'll save that one for another time. By taking a small level, I was able to determine that the frame was fairly flat and should NOT have presented a problem with any type of grips. I suspect the grips are warped as suggested in the attached picture. They are noticeably over on the frame when looking at them from the back at an angle, and it is noticeable when handling the gun. I've never had a problem with any of my RUGER handguns before-------this is the first. Anyway, I guess I can do without it for a week or 10 days. Thanks for your suggestions.

Ask them if they can send you a set of grips, go ahead and charge your credit card, and then issue you a refund when they get the old grips back. I have taken that approach more than once, and a couple of times they said forget it and just sent me the stuff. The other times they cut me a refund as soon as they got the item. If Ruger gets your gun they will go over it and retore everything they find to original factory specs. Also, if it's their problem, ask them to issue you a FedEx pick up number on their nickel. Sending you a set of grips is the cheapest solution for everybody.
