This book by Steven Herrero is by far and away the best researched and most in depth study of bear attacks and their causes that I have read. While mostly an analysis of attacks and what could have been done, there are very entertaining tales and some really horrifying ones. Definitely not a book for the squimsh or very young reader, but does go into great detail and presents the facts. Herrero depicts bear mauling cases (both lethal and non-lethal) and reconstructs the events and conditions that led to the encounter.
I highly recommend this book to those that hunt, hike, fish, venture or live in bear country. Very informative.
