Welcome to the forum M.R. Rules are simple, be nice and join in. You might want to check our FAQ section and read some of the stickies at the top of the general forum to get an idea of what were about.
Check at some of the on line auction and gun sale places for prices. It's going to depend on where you live as to a current price. Folks in Europe and overseas countries pay much higher prices for rifles than we do here in the US and prices in Idaho differ from prices in California and New York so quoting a price is pretty hard.
Keep in mind that Winchester is no longer producing lever action rifles and you might be better served going to a Marlin or another Winchester clone that's still being produced.

I'm also looking for a .357 lever action rifle but not necessarily looking for a Winchester. I stopped in the gunshop last week and they had a 35-55 Trapper with large loop lever and the price tag said $899:eek::eek::eek:

I have owned a .357 Rossi lever carbine for close to twenty years. Not everyone likes Rossi firearms but this little rifle has never given me any problems and shoots very nicely; it has a lot of rounds through it. It was reviewed some years ago in the "Dope Bag" at American Rifleman; the review was positive - good accurate gun, good value. Very handy gun.

Where can I buy a leather loop cover like yours? I find the Marlin loop rather sharp after awhile & have been looking for a cover.
Thanks
