Okay, another question. The recipe for the load I want calls for 25 gr. Herco with a press. of 8400. Is it okay if the closest bushing measures 25.7 gr. I'm thinking it would not harm anything since the press. is only 8400 with 25 gr. Your thoughts appreciated.

Also, is it ok if the shot comes just slightly over the top of the wad during loading? I'm using the waa12f114 wad and 1 1/4 oz. shot and all the shot is not in the wad. It crimps great. I noticed that wad is not quite as tall as the waa12 wad

You've evidently got the "New, Improved" WAA12F114 wad from Winchester. The old F114 held a full 1 1/4 ounces of shot. Why they changed it, I got no idea. Both have been discontinued by Winchester. Claybuster makes a clone of the one you have, Downrange makes a clone of the original (better) wad.

As far as the 25.0 vs 25.7 grains, I wouldn't worry about it, but that's just me.

Thanks DMC, These wads are probably 15 years old. You can tell I haven't reloaded in a while. I found another combination I'm loading. A #38 bushing throws 26.5 of Herco, 1 1/8 oz. shot, 1310 vel. I'm anxious to pattern it.

Are you checking actual weights thrown with a scale?

Mike,
yes, i have been weighing the loads from different bushings. They are all throwing less than the MEC charts show. Some as much as 2.5 to 3 gr. less. Do you use Herco and have you experienced much of a differential? Thanks for checking though
