Does any one reload 410 shotgun shells. Have never heard of this being done and was just wondering. Over here the 410 are a lot dearer to buy then the 12 guage are. If people do reload them what powder do you use and what shot. Thanks

Get a Lyman reloading manual, it will have the loading data you need.

Better still look up the ADI website. Then try to find a shop that stocks components.

I load some of them occasionally, not in any volume, though. I use an old Lee Loader and do 10 or 20 at a time. I most often use Alliant 2400 or H110 for propellant with #6 shot most often.
The Lyman Shotshell Handbook, as already recommended, has extensive data.

I use to reload the little .410 many-many years ago using the old Lee Loader. Always had great results from reloading the .410. I used 2400 powder and a 3" shot wad in 3" shells. I wish they still made the old Lee Loaders in .410 but I am puzzled as to why they don't make a shot wad to hold 3/4 oz.of shot. All you can get now is shot wads for a 1/2 oz. load.

I've been loading for my 410 for many years with a MEC 600 Jr press. I load both 2 1/2 and 3 inch. Even occasionally having to buy once fired hulls, the savings are tremendous compared to buying new loaded ammo. I nearly dropped over when I saw the price of just under $13 a box for the 3 inch at Wally World. I use the same shotcup for both lengths of hulls as I don't know of anyone making different ones for each. I've used 2400, 296 and 4227 to load them. My favorite powder is surplus WC820 as I can get it for much less than the canister powders. Also works great for 357 and 44 Mag loads.
Good luck, Ron

$13 a box is good. Over here the last lot i bought was something like $25 for a box of 25 winchester 3 inch No.6 shells. Lot of saveing to be made by reloading them.

During my military service days back in the 70's, I shot a lot of skeet and reloaded the 2.5" shells. It was hard getting components at times so ended up loading many different powders. Some would work and others wouldn't because they were too bulky. My notes show Hodgon H110, Alliant 2400 and IMR 4227 as powders that would work. As noted by another poster there is only one wad used for both the 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz loads. Various sources allude to a different wad but have never been able to order or find them for sale.
Since the case volumn is very small it doesn't take much variation in powder bulk to cause shot spill from the crimped case. This was my biggest problem loading the 410. Powders that were supposed to work by the manuals would cause spilled shot with the powder I possessed. Would try another I had and that one would work fine. The next time I got a different lot of powder it might work. Was very fustrating overseas when components were few and very hard to come by. Can only imagine how bad its now.
