I'm curious what places some of you spend computer time. I visit predatormasters, but haven't posted there.

Also lurk and contribute at speedtalk and performance years which are car sites.

I am active in a crochet forum, a forum for thrifty living, a forum for saving America from the ills that beset us, and several gun forums: Women and Guns, Rimfire Central, Rimfire Shooting. I sometimes go to The High Road and Family, Friends, Firearms.

I do a great deal of research and use my computer for a fancy typewriter/word processor. Then, there are the emails and fiddling around with photos in iPhoto.

This one came with the house. I sold it last year, it was built the same year I was born, 1953. It's a Model 60 and that is me with the instruction manual trying to figure out how to operate it. I finally got it figured out and used it a few times. I have two other tractors that I use on a regular basis so I sold it. I just couldn't see it sitting in a field with a tarp over it when someone could be using it. It ended up with a collector in FL who was restoring it. It was in pretty good shape to start with and if it didn't have that close set front wheel assembly I'd have kept it for myself.

This forum takes all the 'extra' time I have available!

flashhole, in the hills, that wasn't a good tractor to have unless you installed a rollover bar!

That's why I sold it. I figured it was just a matter of time before I rolled over.

The nice thing about being retired is being able to participate in some of the online forums and though I belong to several this one and Predator Masters are about the only two I really post in.

The guys over a predator Masters seem to be going thru somewhat of a shakeup right now and are doing some re-organization. They finally banned some troubled folks. They are receiving some heat over that move from several folks that seem to want to interject more into the forum than shooting and hunting knowledge. Being a moderator here sure makes me appreciate their problems. Hope they work all that out, it's a great varmint and predator hunting resource.

Flash that's some pretty country there behind you. I used to drive to upstate New York often when I was running big rigs cross country. Sure hated the winters there. You guys get more snow than we do here in Idaho. I can see where a tractor with a bucket loader would be reall handy in that country.

I was a moderator for a little while on a small forum. Because the owner/administrator sets the tone for how the moderators do things, I soon discovered that without a complete plan and clear vision, there were soon too many cooks in the kitchen. I bowed out gracefully. Even without difficult posts and forum members who ought not to have been there, it was a pandora's box. The administrators and the moderators often have tough or delicate situations to handle. And God save us when a moderator's whole life is the forum....

I've learned on the gun forums to just ask my questions, be friendly, offer support where I can, and stay out of the emotionally-loaded threads. I avoid the humor sections, as not everyone knows what is respectful or appropriate.

The purpose of humor is to uplift and show us humans where our foibles are. Many people use humor as a way to make someone else smaller so that they can feel bigger. Or they use, what they think is funny, as a way to indulge in something that is wrong.

I find that forums are like visiting a small town or a large family reunion. It takes a little while to get one's bearings. Parts are very nice, and there's a lot to pass by. I had an elderly friend who was wont to say, when I'd ask her about situations I found challenging, "Just go on, go on, go on." She had such a practical way of enjoying life and being upright about it.

Flash, that is a nice-looking tractor, and beautiful country. Have you got that kind of view all around?

NICE 60, Flashhole! Grew up on the tricycle frontends, but in relatively flat country. A trike and a loader is not a great combination in any circumstances. Grew up in central Michigan which is about as flat as it gets, now live in Maine. If Dad saw some of the places I take my tractors around here, he'd have a conniption fit.

The relative stability of trikes vs. wide fronts is a hot issue on the tractor boards, guaranteed to start a big ol' fight.

This is a nice thread. I do like and agree with the "being retired" point of view. I participate actively in a number of shooting forums. It remains quite interesting for me to notice the different "personalities" that each forum has. I also frequent a forum about camping stoves, which I collect on a small scale (along with blowtorches).

LBR - The views go around 2/3 of the property. The ramaining is the tree line that hits desnes forest. It's still very pretty, especially in the fall, but you just see to the tree line.

Forums - there are some interesting forums out there, but like Bob I only participate in a few. I like The Firing Line, Preadator Masters, The High Road, and Sniper's Hide, there are others but these are the ones I will post in. I gave up on a few of them just because the folks aren't even civil to one another. The Nosler forum is not bad, just not a lot of participation, same with Saubier and Reloader's Nest.

I spend all of my forum time here on SF. I've learned some valuable information here, and post on some threads when I feel like I've got something to add.
I've found that this site, maintains a high standard and doesn't let the "conversations" degradate.
The only times I bite my lip is when someone asks,' which is better the 270 or the 30-06" or similar type posts.

All in all, its a very well run forum.
I don't have time for others.

Man Oh Man , thats a nice ol tractor Flash and it does bring back the memories . Grew up with an old Massie trike in Maine . I go to a couple of sites one is coin talk its for us that as you might guess collect coins and other gun sites . One that I haven't seen mentioned is Marlin Owners but I go there because I own several Marlins . I'm not retired yet but getting there fast but between my hobbies of collecting and hunting and shooting and the computer in the early morn and evenings my days will be full . Take care and have fun .

I was the first member at HuntChat. Designed the pages, named the forums and made the very first post. That was eight years ago. The original owner (who contacted me to be the Administrator) turned out to be a scam artist and a drunk. The new owner bought it and rescued it from under a huge black cloud of debt and suspicion. I'm still one of three Admins, but the software hasn't been upgraded to keep spambot and other fraudulent new members out automatically. So each new member has to approved manually; quite the hassle when upwards of a hundred spambot registrations a day occur, I assure you!

I post on four shooting forums (all under my real name), and outdoor photography forum and a Vietnam vets forum for Forward Air Controllers. I check all of them at least once a day when I'm not golfing, shooting, fishing, doing yard work or just being a regular retired guy tending to his "honey-do" list.

I'm not retired and not close. I'd say I visit this forum as much as any. I do visit a couple of Subrau-related automotive sites fairly regularly, though I post even less at those than here. I go to Graybeardoutdoors .com sometimes, but not much now that I don't have a Handi-rifle any more. Rimfire Central is fun to read occasionally, but I doubt I've posted even half a dozen times. Too much to do. I do appreciate this forum, though. I wish I could develop enough confidence in my Marlin with cast bullets to patronize Beartooth a bit.

Being a Marlin Owner, I do spend some time at Marlin Owners. I also spend time at Levergunlovers, but they alas, have also had a shake up. We'll see how that bears out.

On a completely different note, I spend a lot of time on some Christian blogs. I am a Bible believing Christian and try to let the Bible as a whole dictate what I believe rather than trying to find what I believe in a few verses. One of the best bogs around for strong believers who hold the Bible in authority is Pyromaniacs: http://teampyro.blogspot.com/ Pulpit magazine is also quite good: http://www.sfpulpit.com/

I post here and an RV forum. I visit several others just to see if anything interesting has been posted. I don't take smoke breaks at work but do take SF breaks just to clear my head. I would personally like to thank the SF moderators for a job well done keeping this forum shooting centered and free of any rude and hostile posts.

Other forums? OTHER FORUMS? you kidding right? I had no idea. I though this was the only one!:D

Only one I have time for really, this one. Uwed to visit a rotorcraft forum but some of those folks were pretty indescrete, lots of flaming going on unfortunately and much of it cloaked in the name of safety, but really just mean spirited I think.

As gun nut, this place would be hard to beat.

I've actually met and have hunted and fished with some of the members. Good folks.

That's a nice tractor by the way.

And I like wandering in here from time to time.

I'm a volunteer moderator on a Ford Trucks forum, so I used to spend a lot of time there. My focus has changed more towards firearms and shooting, so I mainly spend time here. I haven't even posted on that forum in two weeks or better, I've got roughly 19K posts there, but began to feel that I was getting frustrated with the idiosyncracies of it all. If you don't enjoy something, it really bleeds into everything else if you continue to surround yourself with it. I noticed it was taking over my life and so I've backed off considerably. I mainly only post here and very rarely on the Nosler forum.

I used to participate in another forum dealing with military arms until they had troubles with site attacks from individuals that would shut down the forum. Turned out there software was outdated and needed updating. When the site owner asked for donations to buy the software alarms bells begin sounding. I asked a bunch of questions and instead of answers was attacked for asking the questions. Next thing I knew my log in and password wouldn't work. Tried contacting the site owner and web manager about the lock out and they wouldn't respond. Haven't been back to the site since although about two months later did receive an email with new log in and password. Looking back on what happened I believe my suspisions were with merit and believe there were others who had the same thoughts but were afraid to ask questions. For a site owner to ask for donations without answering all questions asked fully and completely leaves questions unanswered aluding to there intent, honesty and integrity.

This forum has been informative in general. Although some of the topics I believe are some what infrequently used. When a posting goes for some period of time without responses or new topics posted then I wonder. Moderators appear well informed and do a great job of keeping topics focused.

I do check out other forums from time to time but keep coming back to the best!!!

I would invite anyone that likes to visit and enjoy a friendly atmosphere take a look at Early Risers Coffee Shop (http://earlyriserscoffeeshop.com). Well, I have been around this forum for a long time. In most cases, if you can not get here, best forget about it. I have seen this one grown from a little oitfit that most posts were the 44 mag vs the 45 Colt. Now, look at the coverage! I once was a moderatot here but found I just did not have the temperment...not many will own up to that.
Oh, I still stir up things around here sometimes to find out how much Lurkers really don't know.
Retired? I tried that for awhile, then started Dixie Slugs...now that's been a "Gas" indeed!
I have a great deal of respect for Marshall and the fellows that run this outfit!

I surf back & forth on about three forums, this one being the newest to me & find it to be amazingly informative. I only thought I knew a lot about firearms.
The other forums I post on are a Trivia based forum & a Draught Beer/home kegerator forum where I help people with their refrigeration questions. Hence THE ICEMAN. :D

My home is here, but I also visit the forum at pafoa.org fairly often since it is a pennsylvania oriented forum. The moderating is fairly good, but the rules are definately not the same. I also check out epicski.com's forum, but usually only a few times during the winter. Once in a while I will go to 1911forum.com too

Hello
This Place is,by far,the best site that I have ever visited.
When I first got access to a computer,I had already retired, and had time to spend at it.
When I discovered Beartooth,it gradually became my favorite. Now,it's the only regular site that I visit. Several of the sites that I recall with pleasure(I learned a lot from them),are now not worth (to me),visiting, anymore.
I still occasionally visit a few others,and some,like C S P,and Trapdoor,are unsurpassed for specific information.I visit them daily,when I have a question on their site.
