I've been wanting to get a new shotgun and have been looking at a Charles Daly. Anyone have any opinions on these? I would like to get a Benelli but I just can't spend that kind of money on a shotgun.

I own a Charles Daly model 106, 20 ga. O/U. when I bought it, it was about 500, and was purchased as a woods "knocker". This little 26" 20 ga. has become one of my favorite shotguns, over alot more expensive ones to boot.
The quality is fairly high, and fit and finish fine. for the price, this gun is all I wanted and more.

i cannot speak for the mfg.'s auto guns, but the O/U is great.
If I were after an auto, I'd go with a used 1100 or 1187.

That's a pretty open ended question. Do you plan to hunt, or do competitive sports (trap, skeet, sporting clays)? Do you plan to do upland birds or waterfowl? Do you want a defense gun. a do-it-all gun? Do you plan on hunting turkey, deer, geese? Are you just getting started and need help with ideas?
That would help us a lot. :D

I suspect that you have already made your mind up? I sure have no trouble with either brand you mentioned. I suggest that you don't over-look some of the "barely used" stuff that is out there. Folks with money to burn can trade on a whim. You might even find a Benelli that you want at some savings?

Charles Daily guns are different today than the one I used to shoot. It was made in the 60's by Miroku and was put together like a fine watch! On the dove fields in hot weather it would literally seize up cause the tollerances were so tight!
Daily's are made by a wide variety of makers but I have always found them to be good guns. I don't like Benelli's anyway so it would not be a choice to me.

yes,
The Daly I pictured above is Turkish Mfg.
but I have to admit it is put together very well.
Certainly not of a Miruku quality, but well made, to last as a hunting firearm.
