Thanks in advance for the help to a newbie on this board! I am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of to load .44 Spec. loads in .44 Rem Mag. brass. I have the same question re .38 Spec. in .357 Mag. brass. Specifically, can I just use the light published loads for the two Specials? Do I need to worry about getting enough powder volume into the larger cases? Anything I have not considered? Again, thanks for the information.

You can do two things and get about the same velocities as before:

Bump powder charges a couple of tenths (say 0.2 to 0.3grain) and seat bullets as before.

Or, seat bullets slightly deeper, so that they are about the same OAL as before. Example: if you would have seated a semi-wadcutter to the crimp groove in a .38 or .44 Special load, then seat so that the case mouth is flush with the leading edge of the SWC shoulder, and crimp lightly.

I use the second method, and as a bonus, I find that my brass comes out quite clean.

Of course this is only to be done with light target loads, not max loads.
