There are some really good spring black bear hunts in the Prince William Sound. Also a spring float hunt on the Porqupine or Yukon works well. Quite a few guys hunt around Girdwood, Portage and Spencer Glacier area.
Do you have a particular area in mind?

Sorry jp I can't help much with POW island. I've been there, but never hunted. It gets a lot of use, but appears to be a pretty good destination. There are lots of roads for easy access to good hunting grounds and you find all essential supplies on the island in Craig. I wouldn't classify it as a remote or "wilderness" hunt, but if you can get away from the crowds (I would bet you can), it should be fun.

well my thought on it was road access (easy?) & simple logistics. Given my time frame & really just a overall need to get out of mi. before my busy summer season begins thanks though
