We hunted all last year and never saw a hog or a deer so we were anxious to get some meat this year. We have been seeing them on the trail cam but haven't seen any in the daylight. At about 5:20 pm, we had this hog and another black hog about the same size come in. They must have known something wasn't right and started to trot off and my 11 yr old son was sitting next to me in the stand and took the shot with his .22-250 loaded with a 60 gr Nosler Partition bullet. The hog went down right there and never moved. The hog was going away at an angle and the shot caught him just above the shoulder, went through the neck and into the head for an instant kill. He sure was excited and helped gut and skin it out. I haven't shot anything in the last 5 years and have enjoyed seeing my boys getting to be good ethical hunters. I will fire up the smoker this weekend for some ribs and pulled pork.

Congrats to your son for excellent shot and for the fact that he will get out and help preserve our heritage.

Congrats to you for being the kind of father that will help teach your son the ethics of being a true sportsman.

That will be a great size to smoke. It will be better than any store bought pork. It always amazes me how clean the hogs are the we kill over here in Fla. Also how lean and healthy.

Again,congrats.....to you both.

Congrats all the way around! That hog sure looks a lot cleaner than the ones I normally see!

Isn't it great to be with a youngster when they pop the cap on their first big game? :D

Nice hog for the boy, Pete
That has got to be the cleanest one I've seen in a long time.
Ours are usually caked with mud.
It must not of rained in a while out around Breckenridge

Have a safe season-
