Were did all the posts on using a .357 mag in a rifle go? I just ordered the Miruko 1892 with a Winchester name on it. Wanted to do a little research as I know we have several people here who have used it for hunting. Can some of you spill some info for me? Thanks

FA18CUB:

I have a Marlin in .357 that I have used for javelina, coyote, jackrabbit and Texas whitetail a number of years ago. It is one of the most accurate carbines that I own and when other folks shoot it they never fail to comment on the accuracy. I stick to 158 JHPs and I have a Williams peep-sight added. The .357 has always been effective for me in a rifle, even on the Texas whitetails.

Has anyone got chrono results with the 180-185 gr bullets? What are they out of a 20' barrel? Has anyone got downrange figures? Say 50/75/100/150 yrds? I am trying to build a useful "database" to keep in my brain when I am shooting. What kind of energy are we talking about?

Hi, Gents:
The search isn't going past the first of the month, so you'll have to page back through the Lever Action forum manually until Alex gets it fixed. I found this one while looking for a different thread.

Jack thanks, I tried to link to an old thread listed by Alyeska and that would not connect. I think it was Marshalls comments #2188. Any suggestions?

Hi, Cub:
You gotta know the trick. Look at your address box. This is thread 5390. Replace 5390 with 2188 and click go.

Hello everyone,
Using the BTB 185 gr. WFNGC in my Win. 94 Trapper with 16.5" barrel.

16 gr. H110 and Win. WSP standard primers. 1680 - 1720 fps. depending on temperature. Excellent accuracy.

13.5 gr. 2400 and WSP standard primers. 1600 fps. excellent accruacy.

16.2 gr H Lil' Gun, WSP standard primers. 1790 fps. excellent accuracy.

Cast Performance 180 WFNGC (somewhat shorter then the BTB), WSP primers, 13.5 gr. 2400. 1550 fps. GREAT accuracy.

Cast Perf. 180 WFNGC. 14.5 gr. H110. WSP primers, 1600 fps. GREAT accuracy.

A 180 grain plain base cast truncated cone (magma mould) over 14.9 grains of Lil' Gun gave 1,703 fps average in my 18.5 inch Marlin.
