I want to buy a Lee 6-cavity mold for my 40 S&W. Lee 6-cavity mold handles are out of stock, no word as to when they may be available.
What mold handles wiill work with a Lee 6-cavity mold? Lyman (new or old design), RCBS, Saeco?
Thanks

Lee handles are long, and the six cavity molds use that whole length. If I draw a straight line between the two mold screw holes at the tips, then drop a perpendicular from
that line's center to the pivot of the handle jaws, it is about 3 1/8" on the Lee set. The RCBS handles I have are only 2 1/2", while the Lyman handles I have are just 1 1/2" (though both those and the RCBS handles are a good 25 years old). I can't tell you about either the new Lyman handles or the Saeco's. But at least this gives you a basis for measuring.

If you can't find a set through regular channels, I've got a NIB set that I'd part with.
Part # 90005. Says it fits Lee 6 cavity and other brands of 1 & 2 cavity molds.
Unclenicks drawing is spot on.

I take it back, I couldn't send you a PM, the feature doesn't exist on your profile. PM me - how much do you want for them?

I think I sent a PM flash? I've never done that before, so let me know.

I bought mine from the Lee Direct website.
It took about 5 weeks, but I finally got them.
Being as I am the impatient type, I made my own to get me by.

That is very nice work Ole! Handles would put me too far from my work though. We must cast different?

Cheezy,
I think the trick is to grasp the handles a little further up. ;)

I'll try that unclenick. Kinda like using a yard rake for a back scratcher. Ya gotta "choke-up" on it abit.
Binoculars for casting bullets is a technique I have not yet explored:confused:.
My PM mailbox reads like Flashhole is good to go. Sure hope so.
I "squirreled away" some WW metal ingots yesturday afternoon. Also some "mystery metal" that I believe is near pure lead.

Or you could cut the dowel rods shorter. Hmmm. You know, a pair of rat tail file handles might work to dress it up further if you can still get them in wood? Last ones I saw at Lowe's would melt. I think it was pretty cool that Ole1830 took the time to do that. In this gun/ammo/supplies/equipment grab-and-hoard situation, there might be an aftermarket business making those?

I like Ole1830's work as well. I'd have to cut them shorter myself though. Would exagerate my "shake factor".
Wondering what Lowe's had to say about your melting their file handles by just "looking" at them? What range? Sure would hate to play poker with you:)!

Hate to disappoint, but I merely noticed that the Lowe's handles now seem to be plastic, and projected a melting result. I was careful not to try it myself. Figured to let some other intrepid reader try it first. ;)
