Whatis Internal error 500?

That would be the error with the numerical code "500". Beyond that, I don't have a clue. Maybe MikeG has a way to look it up? Often those error codes, when deciphered, will give you information like, Register 01100 load error at 11010101101011XX (or the hexidecimal form). Pretty much the program authors have to figure out what the jam-up was? It's highly unlikely to be something you'll be able to tweak at your end.
For the most part, the failures we hear about (see the other threads in this forum) have to do posts not loading and it seems to be randomly occurring to all of us. For some reason the word "from" especially (though not exclusively) sets it off when it's refusing a post. Because others can often put a post up for you that you cannot, I think an instruction is being passed to the system that requires just the wrong combination of the thread information, the poster's information and the post content to be in place. A numerical sequence is being created that causes the issue.

Nick:
The error, which I still get, occurs on my thread pertaining to lightest possible TiteGroup loads for big bore revolvers. I've tried using three browsers and two computers -- same result.
That is the reason I responded to your reply via PM rather than keeping the thread moving. Since I can post to other threads, I assume the problem connects in some way to the thread having been written to bad blocks on the server.

Hmmm. Didn't get a PM. What an annoyance.
Did you try posting just a couple words and seeing if it lets you do that? I usually can when I'm getting the server error, but nobody else seems to have the problem posting in the thread.

got the error trying to post copies of that thread. I'll try retyping rather than copy-paste. There must be something in the text strings of that thread.

Nick:
Here is a screen shot of my error message. It's still there.

So far, okay.

Here is our thread with my reply.
I want to introduce a non-shooter to big bore revolver shooting. I do not want to buy different powders or primers, though. I want to use what I have. What are the lightest TiteGroup handloads using the following components?
1. 45 Colt, Winchester brass, Large pistol (magnum) primer, 280-grain bullet?
2. 480 Ruger, Starline brass, Large pistol (magnum) primer, 340-355-grain bullet?
3. 475 Linebaugh, Starline brass, Large pistol (magnum) primer, 340-355-grain bullet?
Still okay.
***YOUR REPLY***
Without knowing the bullet lengths and seating depths or COL's are, it can't be accurately estimated. How much room the bullet base leaves under the powder is the critical thing. I'll guess these will span roughly from 4 grains to 5 or maybe even 5.5 grains for standard target level load pressures (around 10,000 psi or a little less), but would need the other information to get closer.
I am assuming the bullets are all cast? If not, that information is important, too. If you have target velocities in mind, you'll need to provide barrel lengths as well.

Thanks for the screenshot. Sorry, not a clue what is going on. I would have to guess you've either hit a very obscure vBulletin bug, or that thread got corrupted.
Try copying and pasting half of the text? I don't really have any good suggestions.

ASCII Text is all it takes to trip the thing. Why sometimes and not others, I don't know? Why one person can post the same text (but only sometimes) and not others, I don't know? That's why I think who sent it is part of the issue. When I've encountered the problem, I've taken the text of the post and pasted it into Notepad. I then go to the composition window and hit the "Advanced" button, and start sticking the the text in a little at a time, then clicking on the "Preview" button. I've only once run into something that would preview that would not post. In most instances, if you have the trouble-causing ASCII text string in your post, the preview will give you the same server error.
Going back one page usually finds the text gone, which is another reason for the Notepad intermediary step. I break the post down by the rule of halves for the quickest rundown of the troublemaker. I try to preview roughly the first half of the text by itself. If it fails, I do the first quarter. If that fails, the first eighth, etcetera. Alternately, if the first half posts I start breaking down the second half, and so on and so forth. My point is, I can always narrow it down to one word or character that causes the issue, and if I change every instance of that word in the post, the post is accepted. Usually that word turns out to be "from", but not always. I've even had one post where I had to change four instances of the word "from", but a fifth instance, somewhere in the middle of the post, was accepted. No clue why?
I've had very good luck with Trail Boss and lead. Some people complain about the smell, but in the .45 ACP loads I tried it in, the only thing I noticed was the brass stayed shiny clean and new looking.

Now I am experoencing some of these interesting pronlems. I thought I would try inserting this plain text here with a different lead in.
Well, I could not insert the text and in addition to the internal serrvor error I got a 404 error.
Could not insert plain text but I am able to type....
Page 40 gives quite good advice on defensive shooting: "One of the great points is to learn to shoot rapidly, that is to allow as little time as possible to elapse between the formation of the resolution to fire and the act if firing." The rest of this paragraph gives sound advice on defensive shooting. You don't develop these thoughts without having been there.
And yet there is a bit of what I wanted to post.... It is an interesting error message.
Page 41 carries on the good advice: "First we must be able to direct the pistol accurately and instantly; and secondly, we must learn to draw the trigger the moment a correct aim is obtained."
Page 43 has an interesting thought and quote and my wife and I have debated just when the old line from the Colt advertisements came into use: "There is an old Latin proverb which tells us that the man of one book is to be feared; much more is there reason for fearing the man of one pistol."
I know I'm getting a bit boring here but there is quite a bit to think about within the pages of this little book. If I was a gun writer, and I am not, I believe there is the basis of at least three good little articles here. A comparison article and shoot off between the 31 caliber cap and ball revolvers - Colt and Remington - and the 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R Magnum and the new 327 Federal would be a lot of fun. A follow up article with the 36 caliber cap and ball revolvers and the 38 S&W and 38 Special would be even more fun.
I believe a real article on cap and ball revolvers and their manipulation, more than just the basic stuff would be well received. There was a book written on this subject many years ago but it is long out of print.
An article on plated firearms along with their use and longevity would be fun.
Anyway if you get the idea I enjoyed this book your right.
So, I copied two sections of the post that will not go into this thread. The first half of my post will not paste into the thread. The post is save to plain text. It is an interesting problem.
For me it seems to be sentances which start with It seems to be...

Slim.
I edited your text into the post for you. Go and change it if you want to? As seems to be most commonly the problem, the only word that set it off was "from" as in ". . . from the Colt advertisements. . ." I replaced it with "in" and all posted.

I attempted to cut it up and pot it but it didnt work for me. Here I was just trying to show that it would post somewhere else. Its an interesting problem.
I'll look at it to see if I can add more. I like the book.
I am looking for a malware program, any suggestions?

I would stay away from loading any malware myself. ;)
A good Freebee is AdAware's free version. If you want real time monitoring they have a pay-to-play version that does that. But if you just want to sweep what you have, this will do. Spybot Search and Destroy is good, but not quite as simple. There are also some malware sound-alike packages with similar names you need to avoid as they will claim you have infections and pester you to buy their program to remove them, even though they are the only actual pest on the machine. Go to Komando.com (http://Komando.com) and click on her downloads tab and look for the security heading. She has tons of freebees there. Just watch when you install them because they will come with default installation of browser toolbars and other advertised clutterware. You have to stop and uncheck those or be prepared to uninstall them later if you don't want them. Some of the freeware makes you go through a string of these before you get to the actual program you want. It's the advertising that pays their bills. Just say no. They do no harm, but who wants to track down and uninstall stuff needlessly, so this is just a heads-up.
The advantage of linking through Kim Komando's site is she checks everything out for spyware and other bad stuff before she will list it.

Slim,
I like AVG's product. Free one is pretty good when combined with Windows Defender (also free from Microsoft).

New one: In this thread (http://www.shootersforum.com/showthread.htm?p=461078#post461078) I tried to use the word "table" where I have the word "chart". Would not go. Error every time.
Table; it's the new From.
