What is mfg. date on bottom of rear tang?
I haven't checked the receiver Mfg. Date (I purchased the Chatterault receiver based Valmet as an antique so it will be pre-1898.) If you are interested in purchasing this rifle I will go ahead and dissassemble the rifle to check and confirm the receiver mfg date. The barrel shank is acceptance marked and dated 1942. The receiver shows the typical handling marks that you would expect since all of the 39's were made up of captured/purchased receivers. Compared to the Russian 91/30's I've handled it seems to be of much higher quality mfg. It's quite smooth operating and the trigger is more like a sporting rifle with a very crisp let off and virtually no creep. There is some wear on the outside of the barrel from handling at the arsenal, and a few slight marks on the stock. The bore appears to be in new condition/mirror brite with square lands and no groove deterioration. This should be an excellent shooter. I'm attaching some photos since I've received a number of requests for them.

Very nice rifle, an expert would know more, but the Finns captured a lot of Russian guns in their Winter War right b4 WW2, and took excellent care of them. That might be one they either manufactured by copying it or refurbished. They are of very high quality and great rifles.
