Newbie here... Does anyone use any ballistic/pressure software to help develop new loads? I am interested in buying some software to help my load developing and would appreciate any advise... Thanks...

Theoretical, or actual? Quickload is pretty useful, but doesn't include strain gages to measure actual pressure. I think there is a company that does strain gages, maybe called LSI. A friend of mine used it.

Hope that helps.

It's RSI. I have one. They call it Pressure Trace (http://www.shootingsoftware.com/pressure.htm).

QuickLOAD (http://www.neconos.com/details3.htm) is the internal ballistics software I like best. You just want to keep in mind to feed it back with reality from chronographs and other instrumentation. Once you get it tweaked in to your gun, it is usually very good and is an excellent adjunct to load development work.

Load manuals give you information fired in real guns, but never in your particular gun. The computer program fires a mathematically modeled virtual load that is idealized, but you can configure it to match your real gun very closely. That's the tradeoff. Both sources of information are useful.
