hi, guys!

last sunday, my dad & i went turkey hunting together at a place called fernan saddle. it was fun learning how to call turkeys. it felt funny at first with all the hunting equipment and clothing on, lugging a 20 gauge through the woods. but i got used to it really fast and then i was just happy to be out there in the woods. we didn't get anything, but we saw several grouse and got some turkeys to respond to our calls. i also learned lots of things from this trip about hunting turkeys and grouse. one thing especially was that if you see a grouse
or if one crosses your path, have your gun ready because chances are there is one following it. sometimes i had to keep dad in line about all the hunting safety rules. hunter's safety is fresh in my mind and i think he's gone to long without a good father and son turkey hunting trip. ;)

Sounds like a fun day, Jr - I'm sure you and your Dad made the most of it.

My Dad was more of a fisherman while I was more of a hunter. We really didn't do too much of either together when I was a youngster. It was after I returned home from the service, started raising my own family and realized just how much I wanted to share some time with him that we began to do things together, although we lived some miles apart. Whenever possible, I'd go fishing with him and then during season, he would go hunting with me.

Best times of my life was in sharing our time together. You be sure to drag ol' Dad off into the woods and lakes every chance you can - he'll appreciate it and re-learn some of those safety rules from you!!
