I have a Sako in 308 with a 1 in 11" twist. Do heavier bullets e.g. 165 gr, 175gr, etc work better with this slower twist or is it vice versa. I'd like to try the 155 SMK Palma and the Hornady A-Max 155 gr but was curious to see what experiences other folks have had with the Sako.
The slower the twist rate, the lighter the bullet it will stabilize. The faster the twist, the better for heavier bullets.

The .308 was ininitially introduced in 1954/55 with a 1:12" twist. The 30-06 has traditionally used a 1:10" twist. as of late most of the factory .308's are 1/10". However, over the years, I have read scores and scores of posts from users with the 1/12" twist that have absolutely no problem stabilizing the heavier 200 or 220 gr bullets, with good accuracy.
So I don't think you'll have a problem with the 1/11' twist. Are you sure it's a 1/11" twist?

I went to the Sako web site and they said .308 having a 1:11 twist. I was surprised because I thought it would be either 1:10 or 1:12. Thanks for your response.
