Called Springfield Armory and they said they will begin to build the M-1 Garand in .308 caliber. Should be out by the beginning of 2004. The MSRP is $1129.00. Can someone convince me why I should buy one? In Ohio a rifle CANNOT be used for deer hunting. It would be targets only. What do you think?

This is just my opinion and really worth nothing, but if getting a Garand, it should be in 30-06, the same as if getting an M1A1 it should be in .308. If there is anything to be gained in accuracy by putting the .308 in the Garand, I doubt it would be much if any at all. If concerned about shooting cheap, there is still plenty of surplus .30-06 around for just burning powder with. Now, with that out of the way, if YOU want a Garand in .308, since you are the one paying for it, by all means get one in .308. I assure you, you won't be sorry, it's just that "I" prefer the G in .30-06.
