Hi I am looking at purchasing a .22 semi automatic and would like to know weather to buy a rem 597 LS HB or a 10/22
K10/22RPF please give me any opinions and or problems with either of these guns. I am looking at using it for squirrel hunting and coyote hunting.
Thank you

I have a 597 and it is probably the worst gun I have ever had. My best friend has one and his is a piece too. I would check out a marlin tube mag. Never had a single problem with one of those. Just my 2 cents worth

I'd take the 10/22.
Don't shoot coyotes with a 22 unless it's in the brain. I realize coyote are vermin, but they deserve a quick, humane kill, so a .22 is out of the question unless it's in the brain cavity. The fact that many hunters don't rely on a .22 to reliably harvest a squirrel should tell you all you need to know on this issue.
A 22 Mag might be a better choice for you.
Just my opinion.
I have a Ruger 10/22 and it is nice. Accurate, reliable and will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Biggest varmint I've shot with it is a fat groundhog. Sometimes it takes a couple shots with the LR round. Personally, I wouldn't use it on a coyote. JMHO.

I regularly use a 10/22LR for coyotes, both head and heart/lungs shots. But, I also use my dogs (pair of Airedales) to make sure I find my prey if it escapes; I don't believe in letting a wounded animal heal and continue to lead a crippled life. Not only that, I want the hide!
