I don't think it was around long enough, and on top of that it was a design that was far a head of it's time. If Colt would bring it out again, especially in a 10mm, I'd be first in line, cash in hand.

But is it the kind of weapon (if glitches modified) a special agent would use?

Hi, aemonten:
I haven't used a Double Eagle, but it's rather large and would be difficult to conceal. It's the same size as the 1911 and I've had one for a long time.

The 1911Forum is more specialized than this one and I'd suggest you try them. A quick search of the Colt forum there got 57 hits.

Ok, but without taking size into consideration, does it power and all the other characteristics of the gun make it one for the purpose I was talking about?

It was available in 9mm Luger, .38 Super, 10mm Auto and .45 ACP. The 9mm Luger is powerful enough, most of the time. The others are more powerful, especially the 10mm Auto.

Ok, thanks for your replies.
Here´s the deal. I´m making a james bond-like movie, and the gun I was able to get was a Colt Double Eagle, and I wanted to know if it is beliavable.

If Ian Flemming could get away with suggesting that a .32 was a reasonable carry gun.... I think you're OK.

Most of the public wouldn't know the difference between a Desert Eagle and Desert Storm.
