Anybody have any experience with CZ's Model 527 .22 Hornet either the American or Lux version? Am considering a step under my .223 AI for closer range and less report. First step is to "K" convert it. Rugers M77/22H price tag is comparable but I favor the Euopean craftmanship and machinework.
Allen :)
Ain't no moss growing on the Ruger M77/22 .22 Hornet I have!

I have a CZ in 223 in the American and my father has one of the 223 LUx's. I also have several of their .22lr's. Whiule I havent any experience with their 22 Hornet, I can say that you wouldnt be disappointed. All the CZ's I own or that my father has have been excellent shooters and the quality is outstanding. I have been lusting after the 527 Manlicher in 22 Hornet for the last year and paln on getting one. You would be happy with any CZ.

I owned the LUX version for about 5 years in 22 Hornet. Recently sold it. Spend some time every summer shooting gophers with a buddy who has Rugers. I have CZ's. My rifles are about 30% more accurate than his except for the 22 Hornet which was about 300% better in the CZ version. 35 VMax's at .75 MOA for 5 shots. My buddy's 22 Hornet Ruger was horrible!!!! I sold my Hornet because my CZ 22 Magnum shoots as well and I got sick of reloading hundreds of cases for a shoot when the 22 Magnum is so good and so cheap. Also the new 17HMR is tempting me. The CZ hornet also has the slow twist and won't stabalize heavier bullets at slow speeds for small game where 50 grain bullets in my 22 magnum make a great small game round.
I recently bought a Springfield M6 by CZ and it also outshoots the Ruger.
Good Luck.

I have a CZ American in 22 Hornet. I load the Hornady 35gr. V-Max bullet with 12.0 grains of H110. The fit and finish on the rifle is as good as any that I have. The rifle shoots better than I do - - even on a good day. From the bench I can get 3/4 groups at 100 yards. You will love the set trigger on this rifle!

My Ruger 77/22 in .22 Hornet will put 35 gr V-Max Hornadys into .350 MOA using 13.0 gr of Li'l Gun and BR4 primers in W-W brass. 'Nuff said!

Thanks for the input folks. Will look at all models b4 making a decision. The cartridge sounds like a lot of fun to work/play with.

KDUB: No offence mate I was calling em as I saw em. My buddies Hornet Ruger was an early one and shot 3-4" groups after glass bedding! Maybe they are making them better now or my buddy had a dud...but it was and is a crappy rifle.
