Here's the latest twist in Canada's Billion Dollar Firearms Registration Boondoggle. This pdf file has example Canadian Firearm Registration Certificates. The interesting thing is that it's an active PDF file, which is very unusual as most pdfs are unalterable. Download it and try altering a serial number. Easy, wasn't it? Now click on the slider beside (action) Type. Scroll down, way down. Print it on plain 20 lb. printer paper. You can't tell it from a real one. A cop can't either, as several computer crashes messed up the Registry, and verifying it ain't easy. Of course the Feds are pretending everything works, so they aren't fixing it.

This document is interesting, but it constitutes a means of producing a forged document. Like the old saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right! I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole and strongly recommend that other readers don't either.

As it stands, all but one province (Quebec) have decided that they will not be enforcing this legislation and have called for its repeal. Once our current PM hits the bricks (February, if he doesn't change his mind) we might get some action on this out of the federal government. Let us all hope we will be done with this silliness before too long!

Did you notice the "Not a CFC document" and "Education purpose only"?

Hi, Gents:
True, it's illegal, but it points out the utter stupidity of the C.F.C.s decision to print the certificates on plain paper. The old green slips and plastic credit-card type certificates were reasonably secure. I suppose someone really wanted to keep the registration budget under $1 Billion when they dropped the plastic cards.

Each certificate must be cut out on the dotted lines and kept with it's gun. So suppose you legitimately loan a gun to a friend? There goes the disclaimer. The current watermarked paper is vulnerable too. If you buy a single gun the form comes with three blank spaces. It's no problem to print three fakes with todays software and printers.

Premier-elect McGinty has stated he is going to enforce the registry in Ontario. The RCMP can enforce it anywhere in Canada and have seized guns in Western Canada. I'm hoping the registry will go with PM Chrétien, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bye
Jack

The total incompetency of the Federal Government never ceases to amaze me. Initially they issued credit card type certificates. I received one for a new rifle I purchased, only to receive a notice one year later that they had no records of any gun registrations for me! Can you believe this? So much for keeping track of guns.

Now they issue black and white paper which looks like a cheap copy from the photocopier. Easy to forge and won't last at all. A complete joke, just like the Liberals and anyone who votes for them.

Now we have the same ilk taking over Ontario and McSquinty says he WILL enforce these stupid laws. Get ready for a gun-control, socialist nightmare Ontario! I can see emmigration to Alberta rising substantially!
