I see that Hodgdon has acquired IMR powders. They have a monopoly on the market now. They pretty much control everything as far as powders go.

Nah, there's Alliant, Accurate, Win, assorted imports and Surplus dealers.

They've got a decent chunk of the market now but by no means all of it. They might even dump some redundant numbers or consolidate the two lines by changing sources of their powder.

They'll do whatever helps the bottom line in the longrun.

Hodgdon does not make most of their powders, so it's not really a matter of production. IMR makes all of their own powders as far as I know, could be mistaken, so they purchased a company that actually makes powder.

There is another thread on here where a member got a response from Hodgdon that they had no plans to consolidate the lines but to enhance the marketing and data for the IMR line and leave it unchanged.

Yeah I heard that too.
I don't have anything against Hodgdon, or IMR. Maybe this will help both companies, and maybe lower some prices.

A positive attitude....that's what I like to hear, or read in this case!
