I am curious about a Browning A bolt for my brother, is there any particular years that I should avoid? How common are left hand .270's. I would like one in Walnut and Blued steel, they are much more graceful guns. I found one LH .270 but the owner wanted $1400 for it. I think they are worth about $550-700.

Thanks for any info. I haven't ever owned a browning, I have heard they have excellent triggers and exceptional wood for the price.

I have a Browning Micro Medallion in223 I shortened the stock for my wife and with 60 Nosler partitions it is her caribou gun. It is incredibly accurate with .5 MOA or less possible with many load combinations. As for excellent triggers this one has a fairly poor trigger and as far as I can see the "adjustment" screw is purely decorative.... Good Luck.

Don't know about any specific years to avoid, but from the 3 Browning Medallions that I am familiar with, I don't see any major red flags. I personally own a Micro Medallion which I've had restocked with a synthetic for woods carry (the fancy wood's too nice to get dinged up- save it for the shooting range).

Left-handed friend of mine just picked a stainless/synthetic version in .30-06 (paid about $600.00 for it new); once he adjusted the trigger from the 5 or so lbs the factory had it set on down to about 3 lbs (the minimum setting allowed by the stop screw), the accuracy improved from 1 1/2" at 100 yds to about 1 1/4".

My Micro in 7MM-08 tends to shoot a little better- 3/4" with my hand loads; another friend's Micro Hunter (also in 7MM-08), is about an inch to 1 1/4" shooter.

They carry well in the woods, shoot from exceptable to very good, and have an easily adjustable trigger (albeit somewhat limited in its range).

Another rifle, perhaps a bit less in price for your consideration is Tikka.
