I have been waiting for someone to comment on Layne Simpson's article in the November Shooting Times magazine. The article:"How Far Is Too Far?" is written well and obviously based on solid practical experience. The article begins on page 60. By page 62 things begin to get interesting as Simpson gathers his thoughts for a Caribou hunt utilizing a .444 caliber Marlin rifle. Simpson well understands that a Caribou hunt may involve shots that are outside of what is generally considered the normal effective range of the .444. He lays out some very interesting thoughts on how to get around what many might consider a serious handicap. While Simpson is still in the process of preparing both himself and his equipment for the upcoming hunt, I predict that like me, he will have your attention by the end of the article.
As usual for Layne Simpson, this article is well thought out, carefully written and interesting. I am looking forward to the follow up.
