For you Savage shooters...
I'm looking hard at the 12BVSS in .308 to replace my long departed Rem 700 VLS with 4.5x14 Mildot Leupold. What are the pro's and cons of this rifle?
Thanks,
Redhat

dont know about the 12bvss but if its anything like my 10fp .308 its a keeper. dont let the price fool you. savage makes some great stuff. i havent tried the new trigger system. i replaced my trigger with a timney. it is the old style. im about to repalce the stock on mine. the lminate stock should be much better than the plastic one mine has. i cant really tell you what mine will do but due to stock problems but 1/2" at 100yrds was the norm and 1/4" was not uncommon.
P.S.: savage rifles aint pretty..... :D

If you want to benchrest it go for it if not carrying an 11lbs gun is no fun at all as far as miles of stalking game and still having the energy to shoulder and hit where it counts. Now the 116FSAK in 7mm remington mag and 300WM 30-06 and what not fluted barrel 7lbs not bad super accurate also ideal hunting rifle in my book.
Its up to you 12fv in 308 since you mentioned it 26in accutrigger ideal weight and get the maxium potential out of long range shots probably a nice choice. Ive got it in 243 its very nice most accurate centerfire rifle I own.

Thanks for the info!
Pretty is as pretty does! I have a CZ 550 for hunting/carrying. The Savage will be for targets out to 500M. I like the thought of being able to safely adjust my own trigger too! I checked one out and it seems well made but before I plunk down $640 I like to get all the info I can.

i would not hesitate to get another savage. havnt tried one with the new trigger system. the trigger and cheap plastic stock were the only issues i had with mine. but even with replacing those i still came out cheaper than getting a remington. shoots just as good or better than a stock rifle that would be more expensive.
