I have a 307 winchester that I would like to put in service. Does anyone here have any expeirence with this cartridge that might help. I have chosen to use the Hornady 30-30 170 grain flat nose bullet. Actually I already have some so I figured that would be a place to start. Any help will be appreciated.

There are two .307's in my family. Both shoot well with any of the 170 grain .30-30 bullets. Start of with 40.0 grains of IMR 4064. This is not a maximum load and has shot well in our rifles. It gives slightly over 2300 fps and is very effective on our little deer.
Best accuracy has been with the Speer 130 grain flat nose bullet at the highest velocities. This bullet will really shoot in our rifles. the 130 grain flat nose bullet is a coyote killer.
If you are shooting in hot weather work up to maximum published loads slowly for the last two grains.

I have only used the 170 Nosler in the 307, which has performed very well. I had good results with AA2520 powder.

Thanks guys for sharing this. There is a gunshow in town next weekend and I plan to get some powder.
The local shops powder stocks are way to high and meager. They got enough I guess but is the wrong kind. One more question before you get off the hook though. What kind of case life do you get with this cartridge?

Case life in the 307 is similar to any other bottleneck non belted case, IME.
Load hot, and do too much FL sizing, not very many reloads per case.
Load to a reasonable level-like factory levels, and size properly (no more than necessary), and cases will last probably 10 loadings, maybe more.
